Since about a week ago I've unable to use iTunes to edit the info of mp3s I've downloaded. If I convert them to AAC in iTunes I can edit the info of those new tracks. But then when I try to remove the original track from iTunes I have to restart the app before it will allow me to. I can edit the info of tracks already in my library, mp3 and otherwise. It's all very weird, even for a beta. It reeks of a permissions problem. Anyone experience this?

iTunes 10.5 beta, btw.

Yes i've had the exact same issues mentioned here and it is only since i upgraded to iTunes 10.5 Beta so it's looking like something they will have to sort in their development rather than anything we are doing wrong.

Hack: play the song > quit iTunes > launch iTunes > edit metadata. Sometimes you need to quit iTunes twice. That works for me.

Thanks people. Good to know it's not something whacky about my system.
