Hi all

I've searched this forum for a solution but i couldn't find any...

now if i try to empty the trash i get the "are you sure" window when i click yes i hear the trash sound but nothing happens, i've read one post here that i should try to empty the files one by one but that didnt work either, after an intense searching in this forum, i found another post suggesting the app "trash it", well it worked ! but i want to do this without the help of an application if you know what i mean...

BTW if i empty an item from my external HD it works without a problem...but the files from my Mac HD are still there..:(

I have a new mac and i'm not familiar with leopard.

Thanks

Did you try to hold down the option key while you click to empty the trash?

Yes I did.
Also i tried "secure empty trash" from the finder but it didnt work either.

and when i checked the get info>permissions i am the admin and i can read and write on the files that i want to delete !

Create a folder on your Desktop call 'Remove'

Move everything in your trash into that folder.

Open Terminal and type this:

rm -rf ~/Desktop/Remove/

Press return.
Now those files should be gone.

No idea if this will work, but perhaps zapping PRAM? Just need to hold down cmd + option + p + r after you hear startup chime.

Just a thought, but I wouldn't guess it would work...

I've tried all of your suggestions some of them work, i can also delete using "Trash it" application, i just wanted to know why i cant just delete it normally, is there something i should change in my Admin account? or is it a time machine issue?

I didnt think this would be a problem in such an excellent and nearly flawless OS

Thanks All for your help...
