I'm posting here because PowerPC users are smartest MR users, IMHO.

It is a sort of related PowerPC problem...

I cannot completely erase a new 8 TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub drive. 1.5 gigs of software stuck on there.

This is related to a PPC problem because in PPC, I could use Carbon Copy Cloner and make an actual CLONE of a drive. Now CCC doesn't seem to work as well on newer OS versions.

What I want to do is completely clone a smaller drive and then use the external to back up other drives I have.

But I do not want or need any proprietary software that Disk Utility cannot erase... I won't complete erase the drive.

Have you tried doing it from Terminal?

Yes, I tried Terminal... oddly it seemed to work at first (1.5gbs went down to 95mbs) but then... the software returned! Someone is saying I need proprietary Seagate tools... thanks for your response.
