Can't erase files from external HD

When I try to erase files from my external HD, they get sent to the recycling bin...
But when I try to erase them from there, my Mac freezes and I have to restart it....
( The HD is Truecrypt encrypted/NTFS- but I use Paragons NTFS for Mac...
So I can write on that drive and alter files!)
