can't find a solution! help

I've been trying to import footage off my dcrsr42 sony camera and have had nothing but trouble. i have followed other advice through but nothing works.. I have used mpeg streamclip but unsuccessfully, i keep getting an error saying that Quicktime couldn't parse it, whenever i try to import footage. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
