Hello all,

I did something I dont think I should have done. I attempted to rename the username of the home folder through Finder and now everything has gone missing. Stupid thing to do...now I cant find anything and all the settings and prefs are wrong. Basically, I dont know how to fix it...can anyone help?

Dont worry. Its fixed. Can this post be deleted by the mods please? Sorry.

I'm not exactly sure why you would change that, but since you did and OSX freaked out...what did you do to change it back?

I would believe it could possibly be as easy as renaming it back and making sure the apps point to the right folder...but I would be interested to hear as well.

Hi guys,

Well OSX basically creates a new username folder with the incorrect name that I tried to change and attaches the Desktop folder and the library folder to it. I dont know why. I simply dragged all the folders that went missing to the user directory with my original name on it and did a restart. This worked fine...serves me right for fiddling with things...
