I want to know if mine is faulty but my cable has to writing on like Apple suggests, so how do I check?

There are quite a few people who have cables without any writing on it. Just get it changed.
I'll have to do it when i next go to an Apple shop which won't be for months as i'm at uni. Oh well, I think you can exchange them until 2018.

I phoned them and explained my situation (I live very remote). No problems. New cable was sent directly to my postbox the same day.

I bought mine in store so I don't think I can get the cable sent directly to me?

The writing can appear anywhere on the cable, can be at the ends or can be in the middle. Just patiently look closely under a bright light.

I had a defective cable (no serial number) and brought it into the Apple Store, they had me out in 5 minutes with a new cable.
