Way back 18 months ago when I got my MacBook (OS X) I set my desktop to a favorite photo. I now want to make a copy of the photo to use for something else - however, I can't find the photo! Not anywhere on my Mac. When I go to System Prefs for the Desktop, under "Folders" it shows "Desktop" and the name of one other folder in which the current desktop photo presumably lives (which isn't in my iPhoto library) - but I can't find that folder with Spotlight, and don't remember the name/number of the photo to search for.

Appreciate some help.
Thank you

System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver > Desktop > Select the picture > drag it out of the top left small window (here with a light blue border around it) onto the Desktop > done.

There's a blank where the photo should be

I tried this, it doesn't work - the space for a photo is blank and I can't drag anything out of it.

Can your desired photo be even seen in the right window with the overview?
It has to be selected there, and "Change Picture" has to be switched off.

If that is not possible, have a look at older threads with MRoogle.
