When I start Mail I can see it downloading my new email messages, but I cannot find them in ANY folder (not even the trash or junk folders). Where are they going? Did I click an option in my preferences that would cause this?

Can't find downloaded messages in Mail

When I start Mail I can see it downloading my new email messages, but I cannot find them in ANY folder (not even the trash or junk folders). Where are they going? Did I click an option in my preferences that would cause this?
Perhaps this is something your email provider does on the server end. Have you tried downloading the files you need online from your email provider?
