can't find drivers for airport on ubuntu partition

i've just got a linux partition up and running, but i can't connect to my wireless router. ethernet is not a possibility as the router is downstairs, and when iv'e looked online none of the help there really makes much sense to me. it'd be awesome if one of you guys could help me with this, i'm running it on a intel 8,1 iMac. i would have gone to a ubuntu forum but i figured that i was more likely to get help for my problem here on a mac board.
