The ridiculousness of this is driving me insane. I bought AirPods 4 ANC last week. ...what really gets to me is I don’t want it to connect to my iPad Air, just the phone, and people say to check the ‘When Last Connected...' instead of ‘Automatically’ which makes zero difference. I also tried the ‘Forget this device’ which then deleted the iPhone connection as well as the iPad, despite me thinking all the iCloud stuff is off, but is it me or is this beyond ridiculous it doesn’t have a ‘do not connect’ AT ALL, so it doesn’t connect to devices you do not want it to. No doubt it would connect to the MBP as well, if I had a newer one.

Even when it’s not connected, and off, and Bluetooth is off, the battery icons still show up on both devices for the case and AirPods.
Why is such a simple request so hard to do. I never had this problem on the old AirPods. And why do I want the battery icons for AirPods that are not connected and not used for days or more.

The random ringing when not connected and in a jacket is mad enough, but…

Tried on both, It's just weird, the bluetooth is off on both devices now, but the battery icons don't disappear.
You just can't disconnect them without deleting them from bluetooth list and then having to re-pair every time, but it still pairs to the iPad when I reconnect to iPhone?
Are you making this setting change on your iPad Air?

In my experience completely removing the airpods, doing a factory reset, and then only pairing them with the iphone will restrict connections to only the iphone.

Subsequently, if the case is opened while you are using the iPad, it will ask if you want to connect, but it wont automatically connect.

Try a factory reset of the airpods.

Thanks you, I just tried it, and it's still pairing as it did when opened from new last week.
Both are paired, and both have the battery icons showing the case and pods. It's never asked me if I want to pair with the iPad, but just does. And when I 'forget this device', it disappears from both devices.

take everything to an apple store and dramatically throw it down on the table :)
