Hey guys,

I just bought an external Samsung T7 SSD,

But I can't format it as APFS, or even HFS+ (Encrypted), I didn't have this issue with my old T5 SSD (but I did it on a previous macOS version)

An screenshot is attached.

P.S. Also, Samsung's own app on Mac does not detect the SSD to update the firmware (it does on Parallels Desktop with Windows).

It likely require GUID Partition Map. Press cmd+2 to show all in sidebar and select the drive. Then erase. Now you also get to choose partition manager.

I don't understand why would apple hide those extra details behind Cmd+2 in this app,
But thank you very much for teaching me that, and yes, it did fix the issue (it was formatted as Master Boot Record).

I agree. I think it is a misguided attemp to simplify, but actually making it more confusing.
