Everytime I try to download 4.0.1 on my Vista 32 bit home edition PC I get an error 3259 saying something about my network connections

It might have something to do with the hosts files.

Can someone helpe out here please. Can anyone take a screen shot of their windows\system32\drivers\ect\hosts so I can make sure mine is the same.

Or any other advice/help would be great

Thanks in advance.

It's definitely your host files. I had a similar problem, except that mine wasn't able to connect to the apple servers to, I guess check that it was legit.

Don't know.

Host should read;

Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1       localhost
#	::1             localhost
#	127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

But the last line of your host file isn't that to redirect to sauriks servers??

I honestly do not know. But, I got this from someone else and it worked flawlessly. If you're having some doubts, you can always back up the old file.

Changing the host file didn't work.

Any other ideas anyone?

If I were to Download 4.0.1 from another site which site would u recommend and where would I put the 4.0.1 file in ---program files----iTunes folder?

Please help!

When 4.0.1 came out I had problems connecting to the update and when I did I had problems with downloading it.

In the end instead of clicking update and install I clicked download only, worked fine then.:confused:
