cant get computer to work for shuffle SOS

i have an imac g3 w/ 400megs, a 10g hard drive, and 256ram. i already have OS X 10.3 installed and it works great but i bought a shuffle and it requires 10.2.8, 10.3.5, or 10.3.8 so i downloaded the update on my friends computer but it says i don't have enought volume to update to 10.3.5 so i was just wondering if there is anything i can do and i admit im a pretty frustrated but im tryin to keep my cool... any suggestions would be very very appreciated
