Can't get emails on Yosemite

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me.

I updated to Yosemite and when I did my Mail started playing up (as I've read others did to) so I decided to try and delete the accounts and reinstall. Now, I can't even add the new ones under 'Yahoo' and 'Google'. I did add them properly once but then they couldn't fetch mail. I've no idea if this issue is fixable or how to even start?
