I've got a G4 DA with the Geforce 2 MX graphics card, and a 20" Cinema Display A1038, and I'm unable to get the full 1680x1050 resolution in OS 9. It works fine in OS X, but under OS 9 the max resolution it shows is 1280x1024. I've tried using SwitchRes but it didn't allow the full resolution either. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

what ROM revision does your GeForce2 MX have?

the early ROM revisions do not support some high rez modes, to which apple issued a ROM update to fix

(you might need to install Jaguar for the updater to work)

The ROM revision was 1045F, I updated it to 1057.019 (the updater worked in Tiger). It made no difference in OS 9 though, the max resolution is still 1280x1024.

That article you linked mentioned that the displays came with software, I wonder if that would help. I found a download on macintosh repository that contained a variety of them, but can't download it because when I try to make an account, it never sends me the activation email. I wonder if it would even help though, because I used archive.org to pull up the product page for this display, and it shows a minimum requirement of Jaguar. Also the most recent version of the display software I've seen is from 2002, and this display was released in 2003.
