Can't get into sharing preferences

I hope I am not posting this in the wrong section. I've also tried to search the forums without much luck.

I am having problems accessing the Sharing section under system preferences. I am running a 2011 MacBook Pro, i5. When I click on Sharing, I get the following message:

"You can’t open Sharing preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac."

Can anyone advise me how to fix this issue? I'm stumped.

Thanks for your help. I discovered I can copy my sharing preferencepane from my iMac over to my MacBook. It was strange because the file on my MBP was dated 2004 and the same file on the iMac was in 2010. Worked like a charm.
