can't get ip address on MBA from time capsule

I can't seem to get an ip address on my macbook air wireless. My mac mini is connected fine and i'm using share screen at the moment to write this.

ifconfig shows and ip starting 169.

i've tried sudo ifconfig en1 down and up but this hasn't worked.

en0 seems to be the mba wireless device.

i've also tried rebooting the time capsule.
