Cant get Iphone 4 to restore to factory from jailbrake

My wife somehow broke the top button on her iphone 4. The phone has the 4.2 tethered jailbreak using redsnow. Im trying to do a factory restore so if the thing resets she would be fine since i cant boot tethered due to the top (Lock?) button not working. I get a 3194 error after the "verifying phone with apple" prompt.

How can i get this thing to do a factory restore so she can take it over to apple to get this thing fixed.

Restore it using another computer.
If you used Tinyumbrella or edited your hosts file on that particular computer the iphone 4 restore wont go thru and will error out.

I tried on another computer and is getting the same error. Ill try to find a download link to tinyunbrella. What will Tinyunbrella do?

I tried adding 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to the hosts but wont save

Go here and download TU.

Open up Tinyumbrella and go to advanced and uncheck the box that says "set hosts to cydia on exit" and click apply changes on the bottom right of TU. Exit Tinyumbrella.
Then fire up itunes and it will let you update to official firmware.

You dont have to.
Just plug it into itunes and hit restore.

first off i appreciate you helping.

I got itunes to get to "Preparing iphone for restore..." then getting an error message about 5 mins in. The phone is on the "Connect to Itunes" screen. Reading through that tinyumbrella blog its showing i need to do a restore to 4.0.1. I have the new 4.3 downloaded. Think thats why im getting the error?

Im currently downloading 4.0.1 but its taking its sweet time.
