I have an older Macbook Pro, probably around like a 2005-06. Its running OS X 10.6.8. Supposdely, 10.6.6 and later is suppose to have the Mac App Store, but this computer doesn't for some reason. I'm not sure if its unsupported or what... but it seems I can't upgrade to the 10.7 or 10.8 without the Mac App Store.

I went here, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
thinking that if I manually downloaded the update that contained the App Store, I would be able to access it, however I the message "this update can only be installed on Mac's w/ OS 10.6.6 or EARLIER.

I'm thinking of trying this update, but I wanted thoughts/suggestions beforehand...

I ran Software Update, but it doesn't find any available updates....

So I have the OS version that is suppose to have the Mac App Store, but its not on my mac?

Have you looked for the App Store app in your /Applications folder?
