cant get mini display to s-video to work in windows xp

I have a MacBook 1.1 and have a mini display to s-video adapter, I can not get it to work in windows xp service pack 3, It will flash quickly to a black screen and then back, it works fine on the mac os side, I am running os x 10.5.8 (9L31a) kernal version Darwin 9.8.0, this is driving me nuts I have tried just about everything, my goal here is to output a video that is a insight av player movie and record it on a vcr for a client or if anyone know a work around to get it to play on the mac side that would work also... so far no luck there either. Thanks in advance =)
