Can't get new apple ID on phone

Hello,

My husband and I have been using a @bellsouth.net email address. We discontinued services with bellsouth so I had to change my apple ID. I went into the apple ID site and changed it then verified it with the new email address. Now I'm trying to get itunes and the app store to change as well so I can purchase things from the iphone and ipad.

Any idea or any help? :confused:

I have tried with updating apps and also with a new purchase. It still is showing the old id :(
