Can't Get Permission to LaCie Backups

I am trying to get access to a file fold I accidentally deleted from my mac and when I try to open up the desktop on my backup it says this:

The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.

Please Help!

Try open Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) and repair disk permissions.
