I friend of mine has a MacBook that since it was new, there is one finder window that you can't get rid of. If you try to drag it, it duplicates the window instead of moving.

Updating to Leapord did not get rid of it.

Any suggestions?

Why does it sound like a screen shot, with that window in view, was taken then made as a desktop pic.

Try changing the desktop pic, then figure who pulled the prank.

If that does not work, reboot. It could only be a video card draw issue.

Everything I have done doesn't get rid of it.

Here are the pictures of the screen.

Thats just odd.

And changing desktop fix did nothing? Obviously re-boots did not fix it if you installed leopard, you would have had to.

The only thing I can think to do now is completely erase and install. He said that window has been there since he bought the laptop brand new. I have been using macs for close to 10 years now, and have never seen/heard of this.

It REALLY makes no sense..

You still have not answered if changing the desktop picture did anything. The only thing that would make sense so far is that its a screen shot.

Also, create another user account and login to that one and see what happens.

Changing the desktop picture has no effect. You can try to drag it away 100 times and all you would get is 100 duplicate windows. When you hit the oval button to the right, it even spreads out to include the new features of the finder and hides them when you hit it again.

It is a fully functional finder window that you can't get rid of, and he had it in Tiger too. Has to be the oddest thing I have ever seen.

Did he have any haxies installed?
