Can't get rid of iphone warning badge

So i was sending an SMS, and the first time it didn't go through as usual. The second time it did. Problem is the '!" warning badge is still there and it won't go away, not if i reset the phone, not if i close Messages, and not if i go to the program and go through all the messages. how do i get rid of it?
