Can't get Wake on Demand to work?

I have a 2007 SR MBP connected via Ethernet. I have the "Wake on Demand" feature enabled in Energy Preference Pane. I have an Airport Extreme Base Station upgraded to the latest firmware. I have Screen Sharing enabled on my MBP (and it works fine if the MBP is awake). I cannot get the machine to wake on demand if it's sleeping -- any ideas? I've read the the Apple Support Documentation and everything *should* work?
