I'm using a five year old G4 power book (system 10.2.8) with an external wireless device, which mostly works fine. However, in some places I just can't get connected, although I have the password. Where is the problem? Does it have to do with the "privacy" settings of the router, or with my device? I have encountered the problem both with mac and other routers. thanks for any suggestions!

Can you give us a little more details on what brand of external wireless device you have. Also where about is your wireless router? Have you changed wireless channels on the router yet.

I have a D-Link DWL-122 Wireless USB Adapter.
The router is one floor down from my desk. The connection was perfect before my neighbor installed a password. I have the password, but can't get connected. I'll ask about what type of router it is. THANKS!
