Hi all,

I'm a new Apple computer user (longtime device user) and cannot ID a couple sounds coming from my MBA. They happen at times where no use is occurring. I may be on Safari reading online, but not clicking, scrolling or downloading anything - then a sound happens. It's always the same sound, as if something is being sent, like an e-mail, text or something.

Anyway, I review the sounds in the Sound menu's of System Preferences, but none of them are the right sound.

How can I ID the sound and identify why it's happening?

There is another sound as well I cannot ID, but it happened only once.

How about Skype? If you have it running in the background it makes a sound when someone comes online. This took me a while to figure out (it didn't do it on Windows).

I know the sound you are hearing and I have never figured it out. Yes, it also does the same thing when someone logs into Skype, but also when Skye is not even running.

Same here!

That Skype sound kept me also wondering the first 1-2 weeks. It drove me nuts, until eventually I found the cause. :D
