Cant import cds to itunes error not privileges

Hi, i just got my macbook air with the super drive.
I am trying to import my original cds into itunes, but
it does not let me, cause it says i dont have the privileges
or something like that. NOTE: this is my first mac, second i have the itunes media in an external hard drive, if anything has to do with it.
please help me :/

I had that problem. I use a mp3 converter to convert the files. After that I was able to drag my music to Itunes.
