Can't input text into Finder

Heya..

So, spotlight works fine, but when I try to use the finder search function, it won't allow me to type anything.

This is frustrating.

Any ideas?

Try restarting...and repairing permissions (in disk utility)

thanks.. rebooting did the trick.. (duh).. dunno why I can't grasp that rebooting the computer will help.

I know that with a PC it'll work.. I guess I expect these macs to be better.

I've had this thing less than 2 weeks and although it's really pretty! it still seems quite buggy.

Couldn't find repair permissions - what is that?

Repair permissions is a general fix-all

You can find it by opening up the application called Disk Utility, clicking your hard disk and then clicking 'repair disk permissions'

sweet.. glad to know this.. methinks there may be a learning curve on this machine.

had a 4+ pages of errors.. how on earth is this even possible after 10 days?

I guess this should be part of regular maintenance.. Any other key maintenance I should know about?
