It all started when i tried to install 10.5.5 it told me that installer encountered an unknown error, so i restarted and tried again, same thing. i figured it was a glitch unique to the update and that my good pals over at apple:rolleyes: would soon figure it out. but now when i try to install the latest itunes i get the same thing.

any ideas???
is a trip over to the genius bar in-order, or can i fix this my self???

thanks

I have the same problem. I have tried several times and also tried the download from Apple, no luck. I called Apple and got the same answer I get whenever I call Apple: "archive and install." Looks like I'll be sticking with 10.5.4 for a while.

I had a 10.4.2 iBook that wouldn't install updates since it had bad frameworks. I had to boot it into Target Disk Mode and copy over new frameworks since I didn't have original system discs.
