Hi all, I am having a lot of trouble installing Yosemite on my 2009 15” MacBook Pro which has a brand new SSD (properly formatted with GUID). I am using a 2013 MacBook pro with macOS Sierra, a legit copy of Yosemite with Diskmaker and createinstallmedia tool to create a USB installer (also correctly formatted).

I am using Yosemite because it is the only installer I have on hand (no internet at home).

Both Diskmaker and createinstallmedia creates the USB stick successfully and I can use the tools on it to format my 2009 MBP’s drive but when I try to install Yosemite it complains that it was tampered or modified and stops the install. Again, it’s a legit copy and I am using official tools and tried different USB sticks.

Any ideas on how to fix this? And yes, it is a 10 year old laptop, but it is more useful for me than the new paperweights apple is making today.

A second problem that I am having is some how the default startup disk on my 2013 macbook pro keeps reverting to that recovery utility partition and setting the macOs disk as the default with “startup disk” does not stick. Every time I restart that computer it goes into recovery mode. Any help? again, setting the startup disk to the (only) drive does not stick.
