I have a 13" TB Macbook Pro. Starting three or four days ago, on a trip to Phoenix, I can't join pubic Wifi networks. For example, in the airport I select the free airport Wifi network, open a new tab in a browser, and instead of being directed to the page where you watch a video or agree to the terms for free access, I just get an error that I'm not connected to the internet.
In the past this would happen on occasion, and I would quit/restart the browser and that would usually solve the problem. This time it didn't.
Then I had the same issue on the plane, where after selecting the in-flight Wifi network and opening several new tabs (and then trying two different browsers) I couldn't get it working.
At the hotel (Marriott) it worked, but not seems like a different process? A completely separate window popped up and I could accept terms and conditions.
Now I'm the Phoenix airport and having the same issue. I'm using my iPhone's hotspot to write this message.
Any ideas?
