I'm new and VERY frustrated. bought this baby [Powerbook G4, OS X 10.3.9, 1.25 Gz processor, 2 Gz Memory] online and it's performed very well, provided I use Firefox. [I can download Safari but it will not load.]

But to the point: I've tried to load Skype [different versions] after successfully downloading, but no luck. So, I tried Gmail's video chat. Same outcome. So I began troubleshooting, went to a few forums and got this advice: load AppZap, run it and remove all traces of current Skype files. Power down and come backup and try again. This user was certain it would work now.

What happened? I downloaded AppZap, but it would not load!!!

So, what's going on with this operating system? Is it so antiquated that it can't support more recent software? If so, can I [inexpensively] upgrade OS? Or will it still be an issue?

Many thanks in advance.

Ciao for now.

Skype load issues

My brother in law told me that Skype and other free video chat web sites do not support powerpc's and OS's earlier than 10.4.

Is that accurate?

Thanks.
