Can't locate ScreenShot Capture...What's up with that?

I am trying to capture some stuff of the web and this feature is faulty, while the command works and I even hear the camera snapshot i can no longer locate where these images go. They used to end up on the desktop. Is there anyway I can see where they go?

To change the default format for screencap images, in Terminal, type:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg (or whatever type you want)

To change the default folder for screencap images, in Terminal, type:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/~/Desktop/ (or whatever path you want)​

You need to log out and log back in for these changes to take effect.
