Can't login after El Capitan Install,From Recovery

I just swapped out SSD drives on my MacBook and proceeded to reinstall El Capitan from a recovery partition. It now won't accept my name or password at the login screen. I don't know if it matters, but I bought this computer used but did the El Capitan upgrade myself. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
