After updating my 13" Macbook Pro, I am unable to log back into my user account using the credentials I have always used to log in. I tried using guides on the Apple website using Single-User mode (the terminal looking startup) and dscl commands to reset the password of my user account, to no avail. As of right now the only way I can use my laptop is by logging into the root account. I'm currently logged into root, which I am told has powerful administrative tools. Is there any way, in the root account, to reset the password of another user on the system? Or is there an alternative way in the single-user mode to reset the password of my user account? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

When logged into the root account, while in >Accounts the system preferences menu, the only account that shows up is Administrator and not my personal account that I am trying to unlock.
