Can't login with new accounts created on Tiger after upgrade

Recently upgraded a G4 to Tiger (OS X 10.4). I can create accounts and grant admin-but I can't login with them.

I can login with accounts created on the old OSX 10.x fine.

I did delete the original user account (the first one that was created on the G4 prior to the upgrade.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Would also like to share the G4 with XP Pro PC's on the Network- Any hints?

Did you try repairing permissions?
