Ever since HomePodOS 15, the HomePod can’t be used as an audio source for a phone call. If I initiate the call on the HomePod with Siri, it get sent to my iPhone. If I try sending it to the HomePod using the AirPlay audio options on the call screen, it doesn’t take.

I’m all for new features and such but when they break core functionality, this gets extremely annoying.

I tried on two different HomePods. Is anyone else noticing this?

Please, would anyone with a HomePod (OG) try making call on it with Siri to see if it’s just me? TIA…

I will try. Tell me exactly what you say.

I don’t think it will work for me this guess I’m ruining audioOS 15.1 beta 2 and I can no longer control HomeKit stuff (assuming because I’m only iOS 15).

Appreciate your help. I say what I’ve been saying. Simple command… “Hey, Siri, call my wife (or whoever).” The HomePod answers saying, “Ok, Jon, Calling Dee, iPhone”. Then the call audio comes through the phone instead of the HomePod. Selecting the HomePod in the list of AirPlay options (where iPhone speaker is) does nothing. Very annoying when trying hands free because the iPhone defaults to standard audio, not speaker phone.

Just tried it and, surprisingly, it worked perfectly. I tried from two different HomePods too.

Maybe audioOS 15.1 beta fixes it?

I hope so and that certainly gives me hope at the least lol. Hopefully Someone on public 15 can try it out too to rule out this issue specific to me. Very much appreciate you testing this out. Guess it’s the waiting game now…

Once again, thanks for your help but apparently, unplugging and plugging in the HomePods did the trick. I reboot all my devices (HomePods included) after a software update but I guess that wasn’t enough lol. Discovered the fix by accident when I unplugged one of them to clean the top display. When I plugged it back in, it was like a miracle landed in my home lol. All my HomePods (10 total mix of OG and Mini) were affected which made it odd and that a reboot/unplug wasn’t particularly confidence boosting. Was more confident that it was a OS15 bug.

That’s good . Just a pity these days that that seems to be the solution for the plethora of issues with Apple stuff. I have to restart most of my stuff at least a couple of times a week!

It’s seriously getting frustrating and annoying.
