Can't make changes to calendar

It sounds like a shared calendar - a calendar someone else created and you subscribed to. When you look at the calendar list (click the Calendar button in the upper left if you don't see the list), does the calendar you're trying to edit have that Wi-Fi-like icon next to it (like the "L" calendar in the screen shot)? Bingo.
