I've got an external usb drive formatted as ExFAT which OS X finds unreadable:

The drive was originally formatted by W7 however I really need it to mount on OS X without having to back off the drive to a second disk and reformat.

The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.
Initialize... Ignore Eject

System profiler reads as:

Ext HDD 1021:

Product ID: 0x1021
Vendor ID: 0x1058 (Western Digital Technologies, Inc.)
Version: 20.21
Serial Number: 574D415A4139303137393036

Manufacturer: Western Digital
Location ID: 0xfa130000 / 6
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 2
Capacity: 2 TB (2,000,396,746,752 bytes)
Removable Media: Yes
Detachable Drive: Yes
BSD Name: disk1
Partition Map Type: MBR (Master Boot Record)

Volumes:
disk1s1:
Capacity: 2 TB (2,000,395,698,176 bytes)
File System: ExFAT
BSD Name: disk1s1
Content: Windows_NTFS

Only thing that jumps out at me is that the drive's file system is listed as 'ExFAT' but the content is listed as 'Windows_NTFS'?

Any ideas how I can get this to mount in OS X and why sys profiler is listing disparate file system and disk content?

Thanks
