cant move sides of bounding box to crop in photoshop CS5

I cant adjust the bounding box sides to crop, it will only adjust as a fixed square, meaning I can only adjust the size of the 4 corners of the square but not any of the sides, so I can only crop in square shapes, not rectangles etc.
