can't open address book

I can access my address book via mail but can't open it to change or add or delete information. I've repaired disk permisssions ; checked permissions in my library application and it seems ok.

I would really appreciate some ideas how I can fix this problem.

Find a file named com.apple.AddressBook.plist in the Preferences folder and drag it to the Desktop. Does Address Book open now?

Did this; it didn't work until I updated to OSX 10.4.10. Now it's ok.
