I have an iMac and recently installed anti virus software on it.
I’ve noticed lately( and really only since installing the that on safari when I select an advertised page to open, the link doesn’t open, instead it completely disappears.
Does anyone know why this would be happening?

Have you done the first step of trouble-shooting and turned off/uninstalled the new piece of software?

BTW, what AV did you install - and did you check the settings it's using, as there might be some setting which blocks redirects to intermediary domains.

No I haven’t I will try that.

I installed Bullguard.
i don’t normally use an AV on my iMac, and I’ve tried changing the settings but couldn’t find any options.

Did you simply try turning it off - or disabling some of the options (like Parental Controls, Firewall, PC Tunep).

Did you have a problem with your computer that required an AV product, do you regularly browse dodgy sites, or did an ad tempt you? And why/how did you choose Bullguard - when it's not one one that regularly comes up anywhere in the top 10.

I'm not sure they're really a Mac-centric company, as all their support pages talk about Windows versions and setting. I can't even find instruction about what each of the setting do - or what the options are. Even their 'uninstall' process is basic...quote "drag app to trash". What about all the system level stuff it had to install to do its job properly, how do they get uninstalled??

Really doesn't fill me with confidence.

I have since gone through the other settings on my IMac , and Ad Blocker has a setting that I changed and has fixed the problem.
I was recommended Bullguard for another computer that isn’t Apple, and since it has multiple uses I put one on my Mac. I agree the settings are not fantastic, I tried dragging it to the trash and it’s still sitting there 🤷‍♀️.
Anyway I’m not too worried about that as long as the other issue is fixed. Thank you for your help.
