I just bought the third series of Alias on DVD (region 4), and when I put disc 1 in my drive (Hitachi/LG GCC-4480B) it just spits it straight back out. Disc 2 works fine, I haven't tried the others yet.
I also have a Pioneer 106 (not Apple-supplied, I installed it myself), which reads the disc without any problems, but won't play it due to incorrect region code (the Pioneer drive is set to 1 and the Hitachi drive to 4).
Has anyone else had the same problem, where they can't read the first disc? The Hitachi drive came preinstalled in my MDD G4 tower.
Edit: I just tried the other discs, and they all work fine. I put the first disc back in, and it's working now too
