Can't play library DVDs.

I recently purchased at our local library sale a box of used DVDs. None of them play on my Mac. I can play CDs, but not DVDs. I have Lion. What am I doing wrong? I don't play DVDs that often, but last time I tried (a few years ago), I had no problem.

Can you play DVDs that you didn't buy from the library? I would suspect a failing optical drive.

I'd check to see if the library dvds are scratched - they have been handled many times and often go bad. try playing on a dvd player device.

or try a non-library known to be good dvd on your mac.
