Hi All,

I have a Mac Pro 5,1 single XEON 5680 3.33GHz 6-Core, 64GB RAM, MVC Radeon RX580, Micron 9200 Max 1.6TB NVMe SSD, last firmware 144.whatever, upgraded WiFi+BT) which has been running Catalina thanks to OpenCore, and which I now want to upgrade to Big Sur.

Back then when I installed Catalina, all I did was installing OpenCore 0.52 with a conig.plist where the only change I made was to disable the boot picker as my Radeon already has a Mac boot ROM. This worked perfectly fine, and I was able to play all my protected content I bought from iTunes (like movies and TV shows) in Catalina's TV app, at least when I downloaded the files onto my Mac (just streaming it from Apple didn't work, as the playback window always closed after a couple of seconds).

Since I didn't want to mess up my existing Catalina install, I decided to test Big Sur on another drive. So I installed a 1TB SATA hard drive onto a carrier and cloned my Catalina install and the existing OpenCore 0.52 install and booted from it to confirm it works. In the next step, I upgraded OpenCore from 0.52 to 0.66, with a new config.plist where I again only disabled the boot picker and changed the boot screen background back to grey. I then booted from the hard disk again to make sure that the OpenCore upgrade didn't break anything (which it didn't, I also checked playback of protected content and that still worked fine, too).

Then I upgraded to Big Sur 11.2. The upgrade took a while but went fine, and eventually I was greeted by the Big Sur login screen with that ugly background image. I logged in and so far things seemed to work as expected.

However, I was no longer able to play any of my protected content from Apple. Streaming behaves the same as under Catalina (i.e., the playback window opens and then closes after a couple of seconds), but if I download the file then playback doesn't even start (no playback window, just a flicker of the preview when I click on playback).

I tried logging out of the TV app and logging back in, de-authorized the computer and re-authorized it, no change.

Assuming that this had something to do with my OpenCore config I added Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext to my OpenCore folder and config.plist, but that didn't change anything either.

Screen mirroring with my Apple TV 4K doesn't work either.

I tried VDADecoderChecker but always get this error:

Code:
Mac-Pro:Desktop user1$ sudo ./VDADecoderChecker
Password:
VDADecoderCreate failed. err: -12473
An error was returned by the decoder layer. This may happen for example because of bitstream/data errors during a decode operation. This error may also be returned from VDADecoderCreate when hardware decoder resources are available on the system but currently in use by another process.
VDADecoderCreate failed. err: -12473
Mac-Pro:Desktop user1$

Does anyone have any idea what prevents the playback of protected content in Big Sur (and maybe also screen sharing to the Apple TV)?
