Hi,
After quite a run-around, I was able to share folders with my Windows 8.1 desktop from a 2009 iMac running Mavericks (disable afp/force smb) and then figuring out the correct share folder structure to map in W8.1.
I have a couple of issues though. I can access/copy/delete any files in the shared folders on the iMac from my PC.. but for some odd reason, I can't play video files from the Mac on the PC. Every media player I attempt to open them in just says not responding. I suspect it's because of the file system differences?
Another thing I've noticed is that despite creating a share folder and then specifying that I want it to share everything under it in the subfolders.. it doesn't seem to work properly with newly created folders. Basically, I use Plex media server on the Mac to stream media, yet when it scans the libraries for a new media (in a newly created folder in the shared folder).. it just doesn't find it. The only solution is to go back to shared settings and apply sharing for all subfolders over and over again for each newly created folder. Ideas there?
Thanks
