i have tried posting this on apple forum but apple keep removing the post, this issue is driving me insane, this is the post

for over a year now whenever i need to upload a photo to a website, i.e facebook, instagram,my website etc even though i have all my photos in folders in my library there is no way of selecting a folder, instead you have to look through thousands of photos to find the one your looking for, this is ridiculous for apple not to have fixed this in such a long time, its so annoying im thinking of ditching apple and going to android, such a simple thing can be so frustrating especially if your in a hurry to find a photo, whats the point in even having albums when they are useless when you need them

is it something i said they dont like maybe lol

It's not clear whether you are referring to macOS or iOS as you mention comparing "Apple" to Android. You did post this in the macOS forum. Comparing macOS to Android doesn't really make sense. Perhaps that is why your posts are being removed from the Apple forum.. perhaps moderator is moving them to the iOS forum.. perhaps moderator feels your post makes no sense.

If I want to attach a photo to this post from iOS 18 Photos app (Photos Library) I get a selector at the top of the screen that offers the options Photos and Collections.

Selecting Collections then gives me various subcategories of my Photos Library, one of which is Albums. From there I can get to a specific Album and select the photo I'm looking for.

I'm not sure what you mean with "folders", as that term doesn't exist in iOS Photos as far as I can see.

i have folders on my ios (albums) in this screenshot when i go to upload a picture on my mac where it says photos it used to expand when you clicked on it to reveal all your albums, now it doesnt it just displays your entire library so you have to scroll through thousands of photos looking for the one you want instead of just selecting the correct folder

Not sure what you mean. You want to upload a whole album, when you don't find a single picture?

Go to Users, then Pictures. There is the Photos Library. It opens the Photos app when you double-click on it. So you could open also just the Photos App instead.

If Pictures is missing in the sidebar of the Finder you can just pull it in again.

Or do you want to see the package content folders then you have to right click on the Photos Library and choose that.

You can try to use the search function in the Photos app to find a photo. Sometimes you only need to describe what's on it and it might be found.

@widget2k4 I believe you're confusing terms, which is causing misunderstandings. The title of this forum thread refers to "Photo Album", but based on the screenshot you shared you're talking about folders in Finder.

Are you trying to select a photo from the Photo Library in the Photos app, or from a folder in Finder?

I participate in a few websites that permit direct uploading of images (like THIS ONE does).

What works for me:

I locate the photo I want, so I'm "looking at it". It could be in Photos, another image app, whatever.

Then, I choose to either save a copy (or "export" a copy) to... the desktop.

Now, the image is "right there in front of me" on the desktop.

Then, I upload it to the website.

Once the upload is done, I just delete the image that was on my desktop (it was only a copy, anyway).

Easy.

The Photos app can have albums and folders. They are different things and cannot be used interchangeably. Photos go inside albums; albums go inside folders. You cannot put photos in a folder. I suspect using the wrong terminology here is what's adding to the confusion.

I think I understand what the OP is trying to get at... When you select Photos in Finder's sidebar, it shows all your photos. There is no way to view your collections (albums, folders, etc.), like you can do on iOS/iPadOS (as Puonti mentioned above).

I can see how this can be frustrating, but I guess I've always gone to the Photos app and exported the photos I need first (where you can specify the size: Small, Medium, Large, Full Size). I very rarely need to be uploading the full resolution to a site.

- Quicklook the image you want with the Space Bar.

- Press Cmd+Shift+3

- Upload image from desktop

- Profit

Two thoughts

When I try to upload to Strava on iOS, it gives me a sliding picker options are
photos. &. Collections

the collections allows me to go through all sorts of albums.

If this doesn’t show in Facebook a workaround is to tag the image your after with a keyword and then search in this.

On MacOS, not sure.
