I've upgraded to Tiger, and apart from various horrible crashes (Word, especially), there's one major problem.
I have my G4 PowerBook (40GB hard disk, 1GB RAM) connected by AirPort to
a) the speakers, through iTunes and their sound cable plugged into the AirPort
b) the internet, through an Ethernet connection from the AirPort to the POE (power over Ethernet) box and thence to the aerial on the roof
c) the printer, an HP LaserJet 1200, through a USB cable from the printer into the AirPort.
The internet and iTunes are working reasonably well, most of the time. But printing has become impossible.
I can't print through AirPort at all. If I plug the printer's USB cable directly into the computer I can print Word documents, but not PDFs.
I've gone through all of Adobe's suggestions, and have had no luck with any of them. Any solutions gratefully welcomed.
(By the way, the AirPort printer connection was using a CUPS GIMP print driver that I downloaded when vainly hoping to be able to print A5 pages. One of Adobe's suggestions was to delete and replace the desired printer. I did this with the non-AirPort version of the HP printer - in other words, for the USB-connected version of its name - so I'm not sure now which driver it's using, the old (very old) HP one or the newer CUPS GIMP one.)
